The McShines of Trinidad - Anthony De Verteuil

The story of this family founded at "Trelawney" by Arthur Hutton McShine and Marie Leontine Robertson (daughter of a re-captive slave from Lagos) fairly bubbles with humour, adventure and anecdotes of many journeys - even to El Callao (searching for gold) and to Ceylon (war service).

As social history, it is the story of a boy from "behind the bridge".  He wins and Island Scholarship and studies in Edinburgh.  Returning as a doctor, he gives his life to public service, finding time to raise twelve interesting children.
