Kamla: A Defining Moment - Harry Narayn Partap

This book sets out to look specifically at the 44 days between Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s announcement on 12 December 2009 that she would challenge Basdeo Panday for the leadership of the United National Congress (UNC) and her victory on the evening of 24 January 2010. In order to fully appreciate what took place during this narrow window in her political journey, it was necessary to put the spotlight on a period prior to her announcement and then go beyond 24 January 2010 leading to her overwhelming success in the 24 May 2010 General Elections. Kamla became the first female Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago.
