For Shelta and Alonzo, Lighthouse Island was an escape from their disturbing and embattled pasts. They found that freedom, not in life, but in death.  Their story comes out of the shadows when a young seaman aboard the whaler, the Nautical, falls overboard during a horrific storm and is washed ashore. There he encounters a myriad of secrets and a twist of lost lives and events that swirl into a vast sea of uncertainty and death.Perhaps the Timucua Indians had it right all along when they called the island Spirit Resting Place.
