Paul Hadden is a Trinidadian writer and teacher who spent four years living and working in Japan through the JET Programme initiative. Throughout that time, he also worked as a journalist writing a column on food, travel, and culture for the Trinidad Newsday.

More than just a collection of stories about food and travel, these articles have become a chronicle of the author's life and all the wonderful people in it. He shares with the reader the many lessons that he learnt as he dove headfirst into the fascinating world of Japanese culture. Many of these articles have also been inspired, to some degree or another, by food. There really is nothing quite like food to bring people of different backgrounds together, and each of these articles is dedicated to the coming together of two cultures, two languages, and of course, two completely different styles of preparing food.
